The Jolly What!

Newark, Delaware’s The Jolly What! was formed in 2007, when reclusive songwriter Mark Degz began using an old Ouija Board to compose hundreds of guitar chord progressions and melodies. This technique gave birth to two full length albums "Life Is My Favorite Sport" (Vanstock, 2009) and "So, You Wanna Be A Quitter?" (Vanstock, 2011). After watching the rockumentary Dig! about 900 times, Degz was finally inspired to busk his catchy brand of occult dream pop across the country to southern California in 2010. Now a four piece band, The Jolly What! has been drawing comparisons to Blur, Pinkerton-era Weezer, and The Libertines, although Degz prefers to describe the sound as "watercolor paints and grain alcohol amplified".
