This is one of my biggest concert regrets. I got really good seats and scalped them.

I have mixed feelings about this show. M83 is one of my favorite bands (my #3, in fact), so naturally I was so excited to hear that Anthony would be playing a collaboration with the LA Phil. The show in it's entirety felt short, and subsequently left me wanting more. The "more" I desired was M83. He had a good, albeit brief, solo performance in the first half, which was followed by a powerful, strings-only orchestral piece. The last quarter of the show saw the only time when M83 and the Phil played together, and it was amazing. What I thought was most amazing was the live performance of M83's remix of Bloc Party's Pioneers (which happens to be my most scrobbled song). However, the performance of that song (as well as the few others I recognized) seemed severely lackluster in comparison to the recording, despite the additional live chorus. All be told, I left the theater happy about the uncommon concert experience, but also, I expected more from M83.

i was impressed the bloc party remix made it for me i really enjoyed the whole thing. the solo section the phil section and the combination at the end. id like to know what the set was in the beginning im trying to find some songs that he played and i cant find them in my library. i am not a die hard fan but i will deff try to see him again when he is back in LA.

I'm kind of surprised people didn't enjoy the show. I thought it was great, even though the couple next to me were obnoxious during the L.A. Phil's solo portion, mimicking the conductor and whispering and giggling the whole time. Have you never been to an orchestra performance? And the multiple boys I saw at the show in jeans, t-shirts and trucker hats definitely irritated me as well. But when it came to the music, I thought it was great! I'm not a diehard M83 fan and I went just as much to see the L.A. Phil has I did them, though, so perhaps if I were a long-time, diehard fan I would've had more invested. As it was though, I really enjoyed myself and thought the individual sets and the group set were all really lovely and moving.

After seeing M83 put on one of the best performances of last year at the Fonda, I was convinced playing with the LA Philharmonic was going to be another highlight. Unfortunately it only made Gonzales look like a hack with a midi controller and a laptop. While it wasn't total disappointment, it was hardly the show I expected. La Mer was definitely the highlight of the evening for me.

Peter Cheng, I believe the female singer was Morgan Kibby. I thought the show overall was underwhelming. The opening set was good, I'd never heard those songs before and they were awesome! Does anyone know what that was? The closing set was disappointing. The choir needed like 50 more people. I thought playing with the LA Phil would make M83 sound even more epic than they already are. Instead, they somehow managed to sound small and weak.

Was cool. Never seen them before, not really my type of music. Some of the people in the audience were real assholes; D54-56 ORCW, I'm calling you out. Taking pictures is one thing, take pictures every 20 seconds, with the "beep-beep" noise enabled is lame, some people were trying to enjoy the concert. Over all, however, people were more respectful than I expected. Concert was great. First set (M83 solo) was not my cup of tea, but I'm sure you M83 fans enjoyed it. First arrangement by Phil was... different. Almost like trance/techno. La Mer was nice, as always. Final set was the main attraction, IMO. First song in final set was decent, 2nd (the one with the intro and outro monologue) was... okay. 3rd song sucked, but the 4th was good and the final song more than made up for any shortcomings in the rest of the concert. Ahhhh, ahhhh, ahhhh, ahhhh, folks!

@birdonawire: I'm really glad. I feel like the tracks off of [album artist="M83"]M83[/album] and [album artist="M83"]Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts[/album] would sound far better with an orchestra than the S=Y songs would. Still I hope they play a lot of [album artist="M83"]Before The Dawn Heals Us[/album] songs...

They played a sold out show @ the Fonda, which is small, this past November. And before that, the Echoplex, which is tiny. Am really happy for them. Each time they get a larger fanbase (it looks like) and bigger venues, much to their credit and that amazing new record.
