Unexpected excessive volume!

Hi - I was quietly sitting working while streaming last.fm at a comfortable volume - then suddenly a BLAST of noise penetrated my ear drums! My ears a still ringing from this.

As far as I know is my laptop not able to detect me falling asleep while working (my employer may have liked that feature ...) - and I had not fallen asleep at this point, so I can only conclude that what happend was a "commercial break"?

Regardless of what it was - it should not be possible to override the volume control or publish a tune with such a massive difference in base volume as what I expected! Can you please correct this! I am not sure I dare continue using last.fm if I can not trust that the volume I have chosen stays!

The November 17th site update included a change so that (in the UK and US) "Adverts in the visual radio now respect your volume settings". But it doesn't work in Germany yet.

So in the meantime, I suggest you always set the volume control in the radio player to maximum, and turn down the other volume control(s) in your computer or speaker/sound system.

If you can't do that, you might see if you are allowed (at work) to download the Last.fm Scrobbler, and play the radio with it. It doesn't have any ads to blast you out.
