En algunos paises normalmente se emplean las palabras "América", "americano" y “los americanos" para designar a los habitantes de los Estados Unidos de América.
Este uso es incorrecto, ya que América está formado por dos gigantescos continentes. También son américanos de pleno derecho los argentinos, los canadienses, los brasileños, los cubanos, los bolivianos, los chilenos, los ecuatorianos, los venezolanos, los mexicanos, los peruanos, los nicaragüenses, los paraguayos etc.
Este grupo es para la gente que crea que la palabra América no sólo debería usarse para designar a los estadounidenses.

Em alguns países, frequentemente é utilizada a expressão "América", "americano" e "americanos" para se referir aos habitantes dos Estados Unidos da América. Este uso está incorreto, uma vez que a América é composta por dois enormes continentes. Os americanos também são argentinos, canadenses, brasileiros, cubanos, bolivianos, chilenos, equatorianos, venezuelanos, mexicanos, peruanos, nicaraguenses, paraguaios, etc Este grupo é para pessoas que acreditam que a palavra "América" não deve ser utilizado apenas para descrever os norte-americanos.

In some countries it is accepted to use the words "America", "American", "Americans", meaning exclusively and particularly the USA.
Such use of words is incorrect as actually America is the part of the world, two huge continents.
Americans are Argentineans, Canadians, Brazilians, Cubans, Bolivians, Chileans, Ecuadorians, Venezuelans, Mexicans, Peruvians, Nicaraguans, and Paraguayans etc.
It is group for those who understand the badness of the narrow use of a word "America" and its derivatives.

В некоторых странах принято употреблять слова "Америка", "американский", "американцы", имея в виду исключительно и конкретно США.
Это не вполне правильно. В действительности "Америка" - название части света.
Американцы - это аргентинцы, канадцы, бразильцы, кубинцы, боливийцы, чилийцы, эквадорцы, венесуэльцы, мексиканцы, перуанцы, никарагуанцы, парагвайцы и т.д.

    @raphaelvinicius First of all, you need to read more ... as Brazilian you should know that the Right and complete name of our country is "República Federativa do Brasil".The short name to the unted States could be USA or United States. The problem here is that when you say 'América' everybody thinks that this is just USA ... "America is not only the USA" - Group name.

    Estados Unidos do Brasil (former name of my country); Short name: Brasil. Estados Unidos Mexicanos; Short name: México. Federated States of Micronesia; Short name: Micronesia. United States of America; Short name?? I think YOU guys missed the point... "America" is the name of the continent AND the short name of the USA. The two words are identical but don't mean the same. No big deal here.
