    Recommendations for the Initiated

So this thread so any new comer to the metal community can come in here and figure out what's going to be good to check out. Any format works, just be sure to link to any artist, album, or song. If you feel so inclined, list the genre as well.

Grave - You'll Never See - Death Metal

Testament - Souls of Black - Thrash Metal

We shouldn't start them off on anything TOO extreme right away. We've got to work them up to that point. My suggestion:

    Protest The Hero - Kezia

Most of these -core bands have harsh vocals, though. So a harsh vocaled band isn't going to be too much of a transition to be honest.

True, true. But death metal is infinitely harder than any "core" band, and deep growls aren't the same as high pitched screams. Most people don't know how to handle anything that hard right off the bat. I'm just saying a little wiggle room is required.

I know what you mean. The experienced -core people can dwell deep into the death metal though ;D

by harder, do you just mean harder to swallow? some core bands are pretty heavy dude. i think i know what you mean though.

if you want some easy to digest core bands that'll be good transistion bands that's all i listen to.

all shall perish, my bitter end, the faceless, whitechapel, underneath the gun.

-or if you want them to take a pit stop at metalcore first.-

dead man in reno, sea of treachery, emmure, parkway drive, light this city, etc.

yeah i'm not all too into straight metal, but i do have some knowledge of it and respect it. as you guys can see i'm slim to none with music compatibility but i do respect true metal since it's where all my watered down core subgenres came from :D

He's right, that song has some chick singing in it, so you could use this song to trick someone into thinking they're listening to an Emo Song, then move them into listening better Metal

Same for Pure by Mors Principium Est

I would recommend the entire album Demigod by Behemoth, but it scared the shit out ov this one dude I know :p So put that one on Hold

Andromeda - Extension Of The Wish - Progressive Metal

No harsh vocals, but the musicianship is pretty intense.

Almost anything from the Band Unearth

    Would Recommend
    First:
    Black Hearts Now Reign
    This Lying World

Then move to their Third Album

    Sanctity Of Brothers
    This Glorious Nightmare

They're Metalcore, but the Most Metal Metalcore band out there. And they don't Suck!

Like I described, you could start with their First or Second Album, then move to their Third Album, which is thrashiest thing they have

They're not thrash. It's like drunken stoner heavy metal.
