it's been near a month since my last entry. where to start? lots of new discoveries to talk about. remember when i mentioned Depth Affect back in february? well, if you haven't checked them out yet (god knows why), you should because archie-lymh is going to be hard to knock off the best of 2006 list (even though it's still early).

along that experimental beat-driven-nod-your-head-instrumental-hip-hop-vein, i have to give a shout out to Girlsareshort. these are a couple canadian boys doing it right -- one of them has a side project you may already be aware of called I Am Robot and Proud. Girlsareshort is a little louder. more beat driven. but it's fluffy, dreamy kind of stuff, going from glitchy idm along the lines of Prefuse 73 and RJD2 to some werird funk coming out of japan. i think they're my most important recommendation this month.
