Singer Dawn Zee and songwriter Neil Reid co-founded Jersey Street in 1997, following a period when Reid had recorded for Robs Records as a solo artist. Rounding out the group are Stephen Chesney, who is the band's mix master and engineer, and Matt Steele, who plays keyboard. Junior Boys Own put out Nobody But My Lord, the group's first record, and it hit the airwaves in 1998. The label Glasgow Underground soon signed the band.
