Daybreak was criminally underrated [3] V Agreed on the whole 'albums being deeper than perceived'. Lots of symbolism riddled throughout the albums like fire and setting suns in STA, then darkness and confined places and stars in UTB and then, Daybreak was like this awakening with reflection and clouds, trees and light.

Daybreak was criminally underrated [2] Seriously consider Daybreak on the same level as Stay What You Are. And yeah @PorchLuck, the whole trilogy is underrated. It's a lot deeper than people even give it credit for.

Haha they're all good, hands down Can't Slow Down is up there as one of my favourites. I don't know; I like evolution in music, I love watching and hearing bands and artists evolve as time molds them and I think Saves + Chris shows a lot of growing. And to me, Daybreak just seems like a new era of music for the band and Chris. I get people aren't going to like it and I can see totally why - the whiney voice, the almost corny lyrics and musical style is drastically different - but I like those elements and don't have a single problem with any changes the band has made.

oh but you are spot on about Can't Slow Down you just forgot to mention Handsome Boy, Hot Times in Delaware and Sometimes, New Jersey!

@Chrisfallout you're a good dude if nobody hates you're probably doing something wrong but I could not possible disagree with you more on Daybreak, it was a really boring album. And screamoj... Get a clue new jack. I'm not even going to look at your charts but I'm sure it's full of some really entry level shit.

@diamond_tough In Reverie did follow their most popular album so I can see why. It also had a lot of different and abstract tracks that made it an interesting listen for people who didn't like emo music or Saves's previous music. Can't Slow Down is pretty obscure too, most people don't listen to any of it even though it is an incredible album with Jodie, Always Ten Feet Tall, Deciding and Blindfolded.

I mean of course, whole albums re-mastered and done as acoustics. That'd be pretty swell.

I am astonished that In Reverie has more plays than Can't Slow Down! That album was awful! I wish they broke up after Through Being Cool or Stay What You Are :(

A re-release of their albums with the electrics as acoustic versions would be awesome. Shame it'd probably never happen though :(

Finally got a hold on all their Bug Sessions which took way longer to do than it should have. Most of the songs are better than their electric versions (Bug Sessions are all acoustic pieces). Rocks Tonic Juice Magic is an amazing near ballad which works really well despite the electric being pretty harsh and brash. Deciding acoustic is simply amazing, outdoes the original electric version from Can't Slow Down.

Listened to them as a little kid with the first few albums. Neverassociated them with emo but the recent things Ive heard sound pretty close to some emo bands. They sound more like their old sound but they don't sound nearly as original and the high productions always kill the soul of the music a little when it ever has a soul. when its straight pop music it doesnt matter if its overproduced.

Something as spiritual of music simply can't (and shouldn't be) be so easily defined. [2] Too true.

Mark Henry, for me, genre arguing is basically as pointless as your typical last.fm wall filled with "OMG THIS BAND RULLZZ" and "FUK U SELLOUTZ". Any band that's worth a shit defies all the extremely vague genre labels out there like "emo", "hardcore", "alternative", "indie", or God help us, "grunge". They're vague, they don't have real definitions - get five people in a room, ask them the definition, and you'll get about five different answers. Saves The Day are one of those bands that defies those labels, thus why post after post of "These guys are emo", "NUH UH EMO IS A FAG LABEL", "Emo purist post" etc. etc. etc. hurt my head and damage my already unimpressive IQ. Even besides that, first and foremost - why the need to fit everything into neat little boxes in the first place? Something as spiritual of music simply can't (and shouldn't be) be so easily defined.

Daybreak is officially my favorite album since Stay What You Are, the last 3 are all good in their own ways but he nailed it with this one. Every song is catchy and dynamic.
