Биография

Warren was born in Yellowknife, just south of the Arctic Circle – a far cry from the streets of Los Angeles or New York – but spent much of his childhood with extended family in Virginia Beach, a hotbed for urban music. His family eventually settled in Vancouver, BC, where Warren learned piano and took up singing.

Warren was recognized early for his dark, mature-sounding voice and creamy falsetto, and grew up singing in the church, steeped in the rich tapestry of gospel music. While his peers were tuning into the latest trends on the top 40 charts, Warren was being schooled in the music of soul legends like Donny Hathaway, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green.

At the age of 15, Warren began singing in a gospel choir under the mentorship of Checo Tohomaso, former backup singer and keyboardist for Marvin Gaye. While honing his vocals with the choir, Warren began to work on original solo material, cutting demos with local producers and performing around Vancouver.

Warren eventually teamed up with Vancouver producer Mike Southworth, a collaboration that quickly resulted in the development of two albums worth of material. Warren’s demo eventually found its way into the hands of Mitchell Davis of The Artist Partnership, son of music mogul Clive Davis.

Under Mitchell’s management, Warren was selected to open for the late James Brown on his last tour before he passed away, and supported British soul songstress Joss Stone on the only Canadian date of her ‘Introducing Joss Stone’ tour. Brilliant showcase performances at NXNE in 2008 and JunoFest in 2009 have garnered attention for Warren on both the local and international scene.
