Grynch – Young buck Seattle rapper Grynch has a rep that is growing on both sides of the aisle. That is, you’ll love him or you’ll hate him, but at the end of the day, you will know who he is. Called by some ‘The King of Ballard’ (a suburb of Seattle), this kid is on his way up and its hard not to root for him. His songs vary in mood and focus from ambitious sincerity to hilarious sentiment to rapping about the dollar menu at Micky D’s. His choices in sampling and featured artists only further his cred. Not ready to buy a full length album? No worries. Grynch puts his money where his mouth is and has downloadable tracks from a recent EP available on his website free of charge. In one of his songs, he raps about wanting to make it but that making and sharing music is more important to him than anything. While we’ve heard this from musicians before, I like his sound, his tone, and his manner and it’s hard not to give this dude a nod. Give him the Pepsi challenge. I dare you. Plus, it’s nice to hear rhymes with a Space Needle backdrop instead of the usual Compton, Queens, and South Central.
