После статистических обзоров, посвященных мэйнстриму и русскому року, пришел черед прогрессива. Данные были взяты из топ-100 по тегу progressive rock. Начнем, традиционно, с числа прослушиваний.

After statistical researches, dedicated to mainstream and russian rock, the time for progressive has come. The data have been collected from progressive rock's top-100. Let's start, as usual, from number of plays.

Придирчивый читатель может тут же сказать, что строго говоря, в первой пятерке (Muse, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,Tool, Dream Theater) прогрессивом является только Pink Floyd. Тут следует сослаться как на свободу пользователей last.fm отмечать исполнителей такими тегами, какими они считают нужным, так и на progarchives.com, который считает многих не-проговых исполнителей "prog related". Классический прог - Rush - вновь возникает только на 13 позиции.

Any reader, familiar with progressive rock, can claim, that in that top-5 by number of plays (Muse, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Dream Theater) only Pink Floyd can be considered as truly "progressive" artist. But I should say, that on the first hand last.fm users are free to tag artists by any relevant tags and, on the second hand, progarchives.com treats lots of non-prog artists as "prog related". A classical piece of prog - Rush - appears again only as number 13.

По числу слушателей классический прог находится в более выигрышном положении. Peter Gabriel и Genesis даже входят в первую десятку. Обратим внимание также на то, что характерное для мэйнстрима плато отсутствует (и на то, что оба предыдущих графика имеют логарифмический масштаб по оси Y).

Arranged by number of listeners, classical progressive seems to be in a more advantageous position. Peter Gabriel and Genesis are even in the top-10 of the chart. Please note, that there is no plateau, like on the corresponding charts for mainstream (and that both plots are semilogarithmic).

А так выглядит зависимость числа прослушиваний от числа слушателей. Видно, что прогрессив как таковой слушают порядка 600 000 человек (а Pink Floyd - полтора миллиона).

This is the number of plays to number of listeners graph. You can see, that prog-as-it-is has about 600 000 listeners, while Pink Floyd has 1.5 mln. listeners.

Далее следует график удельного числа прослушиваний по исполнителям (напомню, что удельное число прослушиваний для данного исполнителя есть число прослушиваний, деленное на число слушателей).

Then we have a chart of specific number of scrobbles (which is number of plays per listener for a given artist).

Удельное число прослушиваний в прогрессиве имеет довольно большой разброс для разных исполнителей. Среднее удельное число прослушиваний -25, максимальный показатель имеют CMX и YUP порядка 90.

Specific number of scrobbles varies much for progressive rock artists, the average is 25. CMX and YUP have the highest index - about 90.

И такой, уже привычный нам вид имеет гистограмма распределения исполнителей по удельному числу прослушиваний - выраженный максимум и длинный хвост.

And here we have the distribution of artists throughout the specific number of scrobbles. It has rather well-shaped peak and a long tail.

P.S. Совокупное число прослушиваний у исполнителей из топ-100 по тегу progressive rock - около 800 миллионов.
The total play count for top 100 progressive rock artists is about 800 millions.
