Further to my journal of September 24, 2007, the January 26, 2008 edition of Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper, once again under the title "This week in history", ran a copy of the CHUM Radio Top-10 charts for Saturday, January 28, 1978: 30 years ago.
Here is the list:
1 You're In My Heart (The Final Acclaim) (Rod Stewart)
2 Turn To Stone (Electric Light Orchestra)
3 Slip Slidin' Away (Paul Simon)
4 Here You Come Again (Dolly Parton)
5 Just The Way You Are (Billy Joel)
6 Blue Bayou (Linda Ronstadt)
7 Desiree (Neil Diamond)
8 Come Sail Away (Styx)
9 Baby Come Back (Player)
10 Short People (Randy Newman)
Notes
This week was "You're In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)"'s 15th week on the chart, and its fourth and last week at number 1. As for "Short People", this was its first and only appearance on the Top-10. It spent a total of 15 weeks on the CHUM charts, the only time that Newman appeared there.
