Britney Spears - Femme Fatale Review

After Circus I wasn't expecting much. What I got was a solid step in the right direction though. Femme Fatale contains some of Britney Spears at her best, but it isn't without its flaws.

Till The World Ends – The strongest track on the album in my opinion. The chant is infectious and will keep the clubs going crazy. (A)

Hold It Against Me - The strong Euro Dance beat is one of my favorite beats I've heard in ages. The Dub Step breakdown is the best part. (A)

Inside Out - An ok track that borders on filler. Has a decent beat, and is moderately catchy. (B-)

I Wanna Go - One of the strongest album tracks. A fun and sexy dance track. (A-)

How I Roll – A grower. A middling track that is a bit to bubbly for my taste. (C+)

(Drop Dead) Beautiful - Amazingly strong track. It’s a perfect dance pop confection. One of the best songs on the CD and made to be a single. (A)

Seal It With A Kiss - Another electronic dance pop track. Pretty solid track that fits in nicely with the rest. (B)

Big Fat Bass - Starts out pretty bland but picks up nicely later on. Not a stand out but still works with the dance theme. (B-)

Trouble For Me - Yet another electronic dance pop track. Solid, fits in nicely but once again doesn't stand out compared to the singles. (B)

Trip To Your Heart - Song intro is amazing, but it quickly fizzles into a boring bubbly sentimental mess. The chorus is corny and I'm not fond of the song. (D)

Gasoline - Sounds like a Circus out take. Not very good. The style of the song doesn’t fit in with the sound of the album. (C-)

Criminal – A pretty bland track. Sounds like filler. The snake charming beat is kind of neat, but the chorus is not catchy at all. (D+)

Up N' Down - A good dance song. A little better than a few cuts on the regular edition. (B+)

He About To Lose Me – A really strong slower track. (B+)

Selfish - Another great dance track. Should have been on the standard edition. (B+)

Don't Keep Me Waiting - A rockish pop song that reminds me of Rock Boy from her Circus era. Not a fan of the track for the most part. (D)

Scary – A pretty bland song. I understand why it was left off most editions of the album. (C)

Bottom Line: (B+) Pretty solid album. With only a handful of filler the album has many shining stand out tracks on it. It is a step in the right direction for her and fits in nicely with her discography. Nothing on it is completely terrible, but a few tracks fall short of greatness. But the set does offer some of her best work to date.
