I was an avid reader of Hyperblast Metal years ago, and that site turned me onto all kinds of music I might never have discovered otherwise. Glad to see you're still writing reviews.

Well, that sounds cool. Keep going, and when you're finished with the new documents, I'll take a look on them. ;)

Hi there. I like your Theorist-blog, so why not speak sometimes on mathematics and fields in these direction? Greetings.

Thanks! Yes, Mgla was great, I'm glad they were able to come back. Will you be going to the next installation of Messe des Morts?

Wow! that sounds pretty difficult, but awesome! This semester I'm taking five courses. I'm not particularly excited about two of them: Dynamics and Chemistry. But I'm quite enjoying the other three: Calculus III (I don't know if it's the same for you, but we're supposed to learn line and surface integrals and Green's, Stokes's and Gauss' Theorems), Electromagnetism I, and Metrology.

I see you have a few scrobbles from Ihsahn, have you listened to his new album? I'm a newbie to black metal, but I'm really really digging that stuff. About those mexican bands, I haven't heard any of them, except for Hocico... shame on me! By the way, I noticed I deleted you by mistake or something, it has happened before, I hope you don't mind me adding you as a friend again, gulp!

I do like the new Lunar Aurora, not as good as andacht, though its alot calmer and not as dark to me. My favs from them would have to be Andacht and Elixer of Sorrow. Oh I totally understand not having time for it (hyperblast) let me know if you do start it up again. always had some interesting reviews (Deathspell omega, blut aus nord, endstille). I barely have time to play instruments myself anymore due to job and family. Used to be in a death metal band in early 90s (debauchery) the best we did was a demo and a track on King Fowley(deceased) cd compilation. I'll have to check out your band some time I.s.o.s. Any starting points or samples tracks to listen to around.

Thanks for the add. You were the cleric on hyperblast, right? You had some great reviews. Got me to listen to deathspell omega. Any plans to bring back hyperblast?

Greetings! Well perhaps you haven't been on here for a while since my shouts are the last ones posted. I do apologize for being away so long. At some point I will review all of our comments (I have yet to read all of yours from June) and I would like to resume our discussion. Have a great day!

...says is found to be inconsistent with what is known, then both Christianity and the bible need to be (figuratively and literally) thrown in the trash. Now to answer your question, what I meant was what faith/belief system/religion (however you want to put it) was Jesus (I assume he is the "heretic" you are referring to) a heretic related to? That is what I meant by orthodoxy. Have a great day and I look forward to your response!

I am not engaging in flattery or anything disingenuous when I say I really enjoy chatting with you. I get on lastfm infrequently, but have deliberately NOT gotten on here the past few days for one reason. I knew you would likely have replied AND I knew I would have to think about my response. You are a formidable antagonist. I left my comments on Friday because I saw your comments in a friends shoutbox and decided I would "stir the pot" a bit. A couple more things that I appreciate about you: you are not afraid to ask a question, you are not afraid to say what you think, and you don't resort to vitriol, invective, and ad hominem attacks when someone disagrees with you. That is refreshing! Now, regarding your recent shout, logic and God have EVERYTHING to do with each other. One does not have a true faith in God if he has to "check his brain at the door." If one's faith (in my case Christianity as laid out in the bible) cannot withstand intense scrutiny and if what...

I play a cheap Jackson DK but with a EMG81 pickup. Is your band "Ethereal"? I've heard of them I think.

Ah LaTeX is just a typesetting system, it's more akin to a markup language than a programming language. I use the graphical frontend LyX to write LaTeX documents all the time though, it's much, much nicer. I know LaTeX (and I can give you some good intro documents on it if you want), but 99% of the time I use LyX because it's much easier, you hardly have to know LaTeX. Haskell is another language, not a toolset/program, so you might want to wait until you're un-programming'd-out. Makes sense that it'd be used in industry, even if you have all the background knowledge you still want to use tools that make doing your job faster. Only vaguely relatedly I've been thinking up a similar set of tools for machine assisted translation, might try to work on it this summer a tad, depends on how far I can get with NLP stuff normally.

Ah that's pretty neat; I feel like a lot of tools can fail at the interface part unless you spend a lot of time on it. (I guess I'm thinking of lower traditional programming languages like C, since it's much more better suited for systems-level programming.) For my CSE degree I'm going to need to use MATLAB I think; I know the Mechanical engineers are going to and all my CSE-postgrad friends have mentioned MATLAB more than once, so at the very least it's a popular enough tool. From what I can understand MATLAB is better suited for engineering/programming tasks and Mathematica is more targeted for pure or computational mathematics, but it's totally possible that's a false dichotomy I've created in my mind just from the passing experience I have with both. I've heard mention of Sage; I've also heard Octave is pretty nice and comporable to MATLAB. The reason I mentioned Haskell earlier is it's pretty much the ubiquitous mathematical programming languages as far as I can tell.

Yeah I kinda agree, I think it helps me be a little more objective. Qbasic and Pascal can both die in a fire, especially Qbasic. C is pretty nice but I definitely wouldn't want to model physical systems in it unless I had to. I have a copy of Mathematica but I haven't installed it yet, worth checking out?

haha, I went the other way. Described myself as a secular humanist for a while, I still do, but I'm getting more and more pessimistic, misanthropic, and semi-isolated. I try to do what I can to improve humanity, however. Far too much of a psuedo-hedonist to take that idea to its extreme, however. LabView seems interesting but quite different from what I'm used to. Do you do any traditional (ie, non-graphical) programming? What kind of mathematical modelling? (I guess more specifically, what in particular are you modelling in physics?) Have you ever played with Haskell?

It's more of a preference thing stemming from minor misanthropy, a dislike of decaying uncleanliness, and emotional ties than anything else. I meant that statement more in the sense of "regardless of a school's origins, if it has good sciences /now/, that's more what matters" rather than what actually came out.

Yeah I couldn't afford to commute now. And having trees everywhere and being able to get away from people is pretty helpful. But yeah, I already hardly go out except into town, besides for concerts. Lowell's history is irrelevant to it's standing now anyways, but the point is taken. I've basically heard the same thing about the physics department. Going to grad school at Lowell? Anyways, it's hard to convey how much disdain I have for built up areas.
