The electron swedish belle came hard with this girlfriend/boyfriend hater song set in '10. Fav track: Dancing on My Own
9.
Easily the most listenable album on the list. Fav track: Dream City
8.
Second great record from the looped out duo from Maryland - although they got alot of help this year on tour. Fav track: Better Times
7.
I heard a writer compare them to Journey. I guess that's close, there like a new age Journey inspired group of 20 somethings without the loud rushing vocals of Steve Perry. Best group to see live of the year. Fav track: Davy Crockett
6.
Love King made me wanna turn off the lights and light some candles. It pittered out a bit towards the final tracks but between the Prince-inspired "Yamaha" and the Nikki tracks it solidified The Dream as the king of the R&B genre. Fav track: Yamaha
5.
While Vampire Weekend was busy getting ripped off by insurance company commercials and selling songs to Toyota, Surfer Blood infused their dream catchy grooves with equally catchy lyrics. Fav track: Slow Jabroni
4.
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening
James Murphy does it again. Supposedly the last LCD Soundsystem album we will get but something tells me the master DFA producer will find another project to perfect in the future. Fav track: "All I Want
3.
One of the most fun albums of the year. While Made in the Dark dabbled in mostly fun but highly listenable songs, this one shows the creative depth Hot Chip can muster up. While it may be the soundtrack to a hipster dance party it deserved all the acclaim it received. Fav track: We Have Love
2.
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Believe the hype. Like any hated artist he's willing to take alot of the risks that others cannot and most will not. It's an accumulation of his failures and successes, and while the hate will continue to fuel his ego ridden mantra you can't deny that Dark Fantasy is fantastically gold. Fav track: Power
1.
Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty
As the more lyrically tuned second half of Outkast, Antwan Andre Patton is now a bonified solo rapper. It has a little bit of everything from the club banger "Shutterbugg" to the angst rap duet of "Follow Us" its a photograph of how hip hop has transformed over the years. Fav track: Shine Blockas
