i should have written this ages ago.. but i haven't gotten around to it until today.
i'm not crazy about Peter Doherty's first solo album. I bought it, I've listened to it several times, but.. I don't know. I fell in love with him because of his violent guitar riffs and soft voice, singing poetry in a fast, less-than-comprehensable way. And here's an album that shows a completely different side of him. I mean, I've always known he had it in him, and I definitely don't think it's bad. He's incredibly talented in many different ways, and I love that about him. Grace/Wastelands is full of songs that never fitted into anything else - The Libertines, Babyshambles.. Which is probably why I feel a tad bit disappointed. But I'm gonna keep on listening to it, because it has timeless sound and when the right occasion will come along, I'm sure I'll love it.
BTW - I love the fact that Pete credited Carl Barat as the co-writer of A little death around the eyes. But I can't believe that he included Through the looking glass.. That's a Libs song, I've had it in my iTunes library for ages.. Hm.
What do you guys think?
