Press Release: Last.fm names Logitech as first hardware partner

Social music network to offer scrobbling support for Squeezebox

LAS VEGAS – CES – Jan. 7, 2008 — Last.fm, the social music network, today announced Logitech(SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) as its first ever hardware partner.

The deal enables users of the Logitech® Squeezebox™ Duet and Logitech® Squeezebox™ network music systems to build intensely personal music profiles with Last.fm just by playing tracks on their devices. It represents the first time Last.fm’s unique scrobbling system - the ability for Last.fm to track what you’re listening to and recommend you new music based on your taste - has been made officially available via any hardware music product.

It also marks the first step by Last.fm to making its features available to music fans any time they listen to tracks, whether at home or on the go.

Martin Stiksel, Last.fm co-founder, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer the Last.fm experience for the first time on a hardware audio device. Moving into home entertainment and having Last.fm on the stereo is a big move for us, and it’s great to be able to do this with an innovative partner like Logitech.”

By integrating the Last.fm scrobbling feature into Logitech’s unique, Internet-based music service (SqueezeNetwork™), Squeezebox and Transporter owners can scrobble songs they listen to on Internet radio stations or from their computer, and listen to their personal music selections from any room of their home. Millions of songs are scrobbled every day and this data helps Last.fm to organize and recommend music to people and create personalized radio stations.

“Logitech is pleased to be the first official hardware partner of Last.fm, world's largest social music platform with over 20 million active users,” said Robin Selden, vice president of the Logitech Streaming Media Systems business unit. “When Last.fm, subscribers listen to their music using the Logitech Squeezebox, Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of all the songs the user listens to. Now users can create custom radio stations and playlists from any of the audio tracks in Last.fm's music library without having to be sitting at the PC. And the Squeezbox allows that music to be enjoyed throughout the home.”

To enjoy scrobbling on Last.fm, people can create and activate the service directly from their SqueezeNetwork account starting in January by visiting www.squeezenetwork.com. The Logitech Squeezebox network music player is available now for a suggested retail price of $299.99 (U.S.) at www.logitech.com. The Logitech Transporter network music player is available now for a suggested retail price of $1999.99 (U.S.) at www.logitech.com.

Also at CES, Last.fm and Logitech will be showing a demo of the next phase of Last.fm integration with the Squeezebox which will enable Last.fm radio streaming via the device. The ability to enjoy radio streaming via Last.fm will be available later this year, initially in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany.
