Why You Can't Hate on The Click Five

Cheesy Pop always has place in everyday life. People will bitch about it, and say that it's only place is at a 2-year olds birthday party. Those people also sing Madonna in the shower, or Gloria Estefan while driving home from work. Pop makes the world go 'round, it's everyone's guilty little pleasure that they hate to admit. The Click Five’s “Greeting From Imrie House” exemplifies this to such a high degree, that I am awarding it the "Most Formulaic Pop Album of the Latter Half of 2005." Every track is filled with the kind of kitsch you expect from a group of guys that studied at the Berklee School of Music. Strong guitar driven songs fill the album, with lyrics that will only offend Iran or Jerry Fallwell. How can you not enjoy a song with the premise of catching a girls' "wave"? It is pure, unadulterated, greatness. The elevation of mood associated with listening to this album is something Merck wishes they could achieve. It really is that effective. So if you're having a bad day, don't jump off a bridge, just grab "Greetings From Imrie House," a comb, some chocolate syrup, and go to town!
