3rd: Infinity On High - Fall Out Boy
2nd: Good Morning Revival - Good Charlotte
1st: Riot! - Paramore

Thing is about Paramore. They have good songs, but only one or two. It's a shame because they usually are good songs. The rest of the album i shocking however, and i believe that too many people rate it up highly. They rate it highly for those songs released as singles.

3rd: Magnetic North - Hopesfall
2nd: Song For The Underdog - Bullets And Octane
1st: The Meaning Of And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading - The Dear Hunter

This album is really terrible in my opinion. It's not a good side project at all, and it should be given up. It's a bit too long and i think that it's advertised to the wrong music fans.

Most Underrated Album
Nominees:
Impressionist Roadmap Of The West - The Secret Show
One Day Son, This Will Be All Yours - Fightstar
Resolution - Hidden In Plain View
Arrivals And Departures - Silverstein

Cosmos - The Send
Scary Kids Scaring Kids - Scaring Kids Scaring Kids
II - Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster

3rd: Cover Your Eyes - Sullivan
2nd: On Letting Go – Circa Survive
1st: Southern Weather – The Almost

The side project of Aaron Gillespie from Underoath, you’d think it gets more recognition that it actually does. It’s a phenomenal album yet; at least in the UK, I don’t see it anywhere, and no one even knows who The Almost is. It’s the most underrated because it’s possible the best slightly unknown band/album out at the moment.

Most Under-listened Album
Nominees:
Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
The Fiancée – The Chariot
Era Vulgaris – Queens Of The Stone Age
Silent Treatment – The Bled
Cosmos – The Send
Cities – Anberlin
Singularity – Mae
Come Now Sleep – As Cities Burn
The Big Dirty – Every Time I Die
Cover Your Eyes – Sullivan
I’m Only A Man – Emery
Impressionist Roadmap Of The West – The Secret Show
Boys Night Out – Boys Night Out
Underclass Hero – Sum 41
Resolution – Hidden In Plain View

3rd: Singularity - Mae
2nd: Boys Night Out – Boys Night Out
1st: Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep

I really underestimated this album when it came out. I listened to it but I wasn’t blown away with it. Next time I listened to it, a while later, I realised that it was actually really good. With that however, I still don’t listen to it as much as I would like to. It’s possibly the best that Armor For Sleep have had to offer so far and I’m not really paying enough attention to it!

Best Cover Album
Nominees:
Infinity On High – Fall Out Boy
Wolfbiker – Evergreen Terrace
No World For Tomorrow – Coheed And Cambria
Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos
On Letting Go – Circa Survive
Lies For The Liars – The Used
Southern Weather – The Almost
Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
Lead Sails Paper Anchor – Atreyu
Conviction – Aiden
Made Of Bricks – Kate Nash

II – Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster
The Serpent – Still Remains
Impressionist Roadmap Of The West – The Secret Show

3rd: The Serpent – Still Remains
2nd: On Letting Go – Circa Survive
1st: Wolfbiker – Evergreen Terrace

For something I hardly ever listen to, the actual album artwork is really beautiful. Artistically beautiful, as there is a wolf on the front. It works with the artist and it works with the music. Very nice colours on it as well make it the best album.

Most Anticipated Album
Nominees:
Please Come Home – Dustin Kensrue
Lies For The Liars – The Used
The Big Dirty – Every Time I Die
The Alchemy Index Vols. I and II: Fire and Water – Thrice
Scary Kids Scaring Kids – Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Arrivals And Departures – Silverstein
Underclass Hero – Sum 41
The Earth Sings Fa Mi Fa – The Receiving End Of Sirens
Singularity - Mae
Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours – Fightstar
Lead Sails Paper Anchor – Atreyu
Tales Don’t Tell Themselves – Funeral For A Friend
Boys Night Out – Boys Night Out
All The Lost Souls – James Blunt

3rd: Scary Kids Scaring Kids – Scary Kids Scaring Kids
2nd: Lies For The Liars – The Uses
1st: The Alchemy Index Vols. I and II: Fire and Water – Thrice

It’s weird. Even though The Used, supposedly the favourite artist had an album out this year as well, I decided to give Thrice this award, mainly for the fact that Vheussi was such a hit, and I’d been reading Thrice’s blog updates on this album for as long as I remember, I was getting really hyped up about it as it was coming up to it’s release. And I wasn’t disappointed.

Most Disappointing Album
Nominees:
Magnetic North – Hopesfall
Underclass Hero – Sum 41
Song For The Underdog – Bullets And Octane
The Earth Sings Fa Mi Fa – The Receiving End Of Sirens
Good Night, Witness Light – Daphne Loves Derby
Cities – Anberlin
All The Lost Souls – James Blunt
Riot! – Paramore
Good Morning Revival – Good Charlotte
Come Now Sleep – As Cities Burn
Minutes To Midnight – Linkin Park
Black Earth Tiger – Emanuel
The Meaning Of And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading – The Dear Hunter

3rd: Black Earth Tiger – Emanuel
2nd: All The Lost Souls – James Blunt
1st: The Earth Sings Fa Mi Fa – The Receiving End Of Sirens

I was really looking forward to this album after Between The Heart And The Synapse. Wow, was I disappointed. I mean, there are a few good songs. But the majority of it is really weak and left me feeling really empty. It also kinda put me off Between The Heart And The Synapse too.

Most Surprising Album
Nominees:
Rival Factions – Project 86
Singularity – Mae
On Letting Go – Circa Survive
Southern Weather – The Almost
Conviction – Aiden
The Serpent – Still Remains
Cover Your Eyes – Sullivan
Elect The Dead – Serj Tankian
Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos
Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours - Fightstar
II – Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster
Lead Sails Paper Anchor – Atreyu
Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace – Foo Fighters
Cosmos – The Send

3rd: Cover Your Eyes – Sullivan
2nd: Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos
1st: The Serpent – Still Remains

The Serpent really took me by surprise. I mean, I’d listened to To Live And Die By Fire before, but I wasn’t blown away by it. If anything it was a little out of my taste. I listened to this on a whim, because I’m up for giving things a chance. I’m glad I did, because this really shocked me. Some might say they’ve lost their hardcore edge, but I really like this album, in my opinion it’s much better than its previous and stands there on it’s own as a good album

Best Progression
Nominees:
Tales Don’t Tell Themselves – Funeral For A Friend
Cities – Anberlin
Boys Night Out – Boys Night Out
Holding A Wolf By The Ears – From Autumn To Ashes
Minutes To Midnight – Linkin Park
Chase This Light – Jimmy Eat World
Lead Sails Paper Anchor – Atreyu
Come Now Sleep – As Cities Burn
Ire Works – The Dillinger Escape Plan
Lies For The Liars – The Used
Arrivals And Departures – Silverstein
Singularity – Mae
Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos
The Big Dirty – Every Time I Die

3rd: Smile For Them – Armor For Sleep
2nd: Ire Works – The Dillinger Escape Plan
1st: Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos

Their previous album was ok. It wasn’t a great album, but it wasn’t a bad album either. This new album however, is so much better, it really stands out against All’s Well That Ends Well. Pretty much every song is a winner. Chiodos have developed their sound very well and I think they should be proud with this. If it doesn’t get them any new fans then there is something very wrong with the world.

Best New Album (For artists I discovered this year)
Nominees:
Made Of Bricks – Kate Nash
Cosmos – The Send
From Them, Through Us, To You – Madina Lake
Coco – Colbie Caillat
Southern Weather – The Almost
Elect The Dead – Serj Tankian
Please Come Home – Dustin Kensrue
Impressionist Roadmap Of The West – The Secret Show
Rival Factions – Project 86
Era Vulgaris – Queens Of The Stone Age

3rd: Cosmos – The Send
2nd: Coco – Colbie Caillat
1st: Southern Weather – The Almost

The reason The Almost have won the award for best new album is simply because ever since I bought the album from iTunes, there hasn’t been a moment that I regretted that decision. It is a simply brilliant album and Aaron Gillespie has done a very good job on this. The fact that for the first 3 or 4 months I listened to it at least 2 times a week was also an indication that The Almost always were going to win this award.

Here we go. For this, I’ll give my top 15 albums of the year and for the top 5 I’ll give a brief summary as to why each album is in my top 5 Albums.
Best Album
15. Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace – Foo Fighter
14. II – Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster
13. Tales Don’t Tell Themselves - Funeral For A Friend
12. Cover Your Eyes - Sullivan
11. Bone Palace Ballet – Chiodos
10. The Big Dirty – Every Time I Die
9. One Day Son, This Will Be All Yours – Fightstar
8. Arrivals And Departures – Silverstein
7. The Serpent – Still Remains
6. On Letting Go – Circa Survive

5th: Southern WeatherThe Almost
My decision to make Southern Weather 5th best album of the year heavily relies on the fact that it’s probably my most listened to album of the year, due to it’s early release. I was stunned when I first heard it, as there is not one song on this album that I dislike. It’s different to Underoath which is nice, because Aaron Gillespie really shows that he has many musical sides to him
Favourite Song: Southern Weather

4th: Scary Kids Scaring KidsScary Kids Scaring Kids
Many people believe that this is weaker than The City Sleeps In Flames, but not me. Scary Kids Scaring Kids have really stepped up a notch in this album, with more killer songs. The songs are all good, but the stand out tracks such as Faces, Degenerates, Snake Devil and A Pistol To My Temple REALLY stood out to me and all are some of my favourite songs. Yet again, Scary Kids have delivered another amazing album.
Favourite Song: A Pistol To My Temple

3rd: Lies For The LiarsThe Used
There was always going to be a bit of bias in these awards, especially with this one. Lies For The Liars, is a spectacular album, it gets me in all the right places, and again, there is not one track I don’t like which is great. I was going to make it top album, but there were two clear albums that deserved to be higher than The Used.
Favourite Song: Paralyzed

2nd: Ire WorksThe Dillinger Escape Plan
Dillinger are not one of my favourite artists by a long shot, but listening to Ire Works is a real eye opener. What they have here is sheer brilliance, a work of art. It’s obvious that a lot of thought has been put into this album and the result is very, VERY spectacular. I mean, it’s quite short, and I don’t really hear what the singer is singing most of the time. But I can’t stop listening to it. I love every part of it and there is absolutely nothing I’d change about this album
Favourite Song: Milk Lizard

1st: The Alchemy Index Vols. I and II: Fire and Water
This album was the most anticipated of the year, and there has been absolutely no disappointment with it at all. Thrice have shown yet again, that they produce quality music. This offering from Thrice blows Vheissu and The Artist In The Ambulance out of the water, because this, I guarantee is going to be Thrice’s greatest album. Thing is, Volumes 3 and 4: Earth & Air are still due out in hopefully spring, and judging by the velocity of this album, that also is not going to end in disappointment. This is definatley my album of the year, for it’s awesomeness and complete uniqueness. Thrice are one of a kind and this album really helps to show the different sides of Thrice. From heavy in fire, to a more mellow sound in Water. Great.
Faourite Song: Burn The Fleet

Hope you enjoyed reading my rantings.
